Standardisation Procedures and Normative Data

The 15FQ is a general personality instrument designed to be used across a wide spectrum of situations. The total standardisation sample is based on 5500+ UK adults made up from the following constituent samples:

Sample 1: Undergraduates

618 individuals drawn from a number of universities across the UK. This sample was recruited through the efforts of the participating psychologists during the period 1992-1994, being composed of undergraduates from a number of different departments.

Sample 2: Personnel/Training Professionals

86 individuals currently working in various personnel/Training departments throughout the UK. This sample attended BPS Level A training courses, conducted by Psytech International, during the period 1992-1994.

Sample 3: Graduate Management Applicants

236 Individuals who completed the 15FQ as part of a selection procedure. This sample consisted of graduates who were applying for management level posts. The sample was obtained over the period 1992-1994 and was obtained from a number of companies throughout the UK who had agreed to assist Psytech International in standardising the 15FQ.

Sample 4: Postal Sample

2492 individuals responded to a large scale postal survey in which they were asked to complete the 15FQ. The questionnaires were completed during the early part of 1993. This sample consisted of representatives of a wide number of occupations ranging from manual labour through to professional occupations.

Sample 5:Higher Education Workers

456 individuals drawn from higher education establishments around Bedfordshire during the first part of 1993. The sample consisted of approximately equal numbers of teaching and administration staff.

Sample 6:General Applicant Pool

1689 individuals who applied for a varied number of non-managerial occupations during the period 1992-1994. The posts applied for were with a number of companies throughout the UK who had agreed to assist with the standardisation of the 15FQ.

The table below provides summary information concerning the constituent samples of the total standardisation sample of 5575 individuals. The total sample consisted of 63% males & 37 % females. The total age range covered by the standardisation sample was 15-78.
